The portrait series @myTable is an ongoing project that I have been passionately pursuing since the beginning of 2020. It all started with a simple idea: to test a new 35mm lens in a portrait scenario. The first photo shoot was not only incredibly fun, but delivered surprisingly powerful and emotional results. These portraits in black and white immediately captivated me, as they create a special closeness to the person and the situation. Word quickly spread about my enthusiasm for this type of portrait photography, and I photographed three more friends for the series at the very next barbecue. So @myTable slowly developed into a centerpiece of my work as a photographer.

Why portraits in black and white?

This image processing focuses on the essentials: the eyes, facial expressions and gestures. This is perfect for this series, as it brings out the emotions of the people portrayed. Although I also experimented with color processing, the colors of the clothing often distract too much from the actual focus – the face and the emotions. That’s why I stick to black and white portraits, which emphasize the authenticity of the person. If you book a photo shoot (LARGE) with me, I may offer you the chance to be part of the @myTable series. And if you definitely want to be part of it, just write “@myTable” into the notes of your booking. As a thank you, you’ll receive your @myTable portrait in black and white in color. ;-)
