Hi, I am Joerg

…enthusiastic people and portrait photographer in Berlin-Kreuzberg. I love using pictures to tell something more about a person. And somehow there is always something exciting for me to learn about my counterpart, about you. Something new, interesting to learn. And I like the challenge of translating you, your personality, photographically.

As an experienced photographer in Berlin, I offer you professional portrait photography that puts you and your personality in the best light. Whether for professional or private purposes – a portrait can say more than a thousand words. And with a clear, individual, professional portrait, it also says the right words.

And to achieve this, all my photo sessions start with a little chat. I want to find out something about you, to be able to empathize with you. This helps immensely so that we can take really good portraits of you together afterwards.

A few more words about me

I am a newcomer. Originally I come from beautiful Middle Franconia, from Erlangen(interesting facts about Erlangen, Foyer des Artes, 1982) to be precise. After graduating from high school, I studied photography for a year at Kalamazoo College in Michigan, which had a long-term impact on me and still does today.

In addition to photography, I was fascinated by the Spanish language, traveling and Mexico. Consequently, I moved to Berlin in the early 90s to study Ancient American Studies. Since then I have called Kreuzberg my home and the vibrant Berlin has kept me here ever since.

I love traveling, taking photos on the road, capturing landscapes, people and scenes of life. Because of my studies, I was often in Latin America and especially often in Peru. I organized mountain bike tours in the Andes with a fellow student. This gave rise to slide shows about these “adventure and cultural journeys at the navel of the earth”.

However, my studies then turned to computers, software (the 2000 bug) and business informatics. Later I ended up at Microsoft. During this time, I took advantage of the many business trips to the USA and extended them privately and went out to take photos. And you can’t say anything, America is simply super photogenic, especially New York as a paradise for street photographers

Actually, photography has accompanied me the whole time (apart from work). Fortunately Berlin had and has many great and very good offers in this area. Photo Centrum der VHS Kreuzberg, imago Fotokunst, Ostkreuzschule and and and… were my training centers.

To cut a long story short: After many years in IT – and I still find this area extremely exciting, especially now because of the new AIs – I started my own business as a portrait photographer in Berlin three years ago.

jasper "Q"?

What does the "Q" actually stand for?

You might think it stands for quality or quantity?

But wrong thinking.

The reason is more mundane. In 1998, my good friend Paul gave all his friends their domain –IhrNachname.de – as a birthday present – except for me.

The domain jasper.de was already taken, to Jasper Bus Travel . Tough luck.

But we didn’t give up. When brainstorming for an alternative, “Q” from James Bond came to mind. Pronounced in American English, JASPER Q simply sounded casual.

I was able to secure the .photography domain extension in 2014. And voilà, jasperq.photography eventually became my company name:
